Accounts on the Data Intelligence Hub

There is a basic version of the Data Intelligence Hub available for personal use, as well as a version for organizations.

In the account selection menu at the top right of each page, you can (by entering your access details again) switch between your personal account and your organization’s account and – depending on your user rights – edit its various areas. You can also register a (new) organization and log out here.

To use the functions and services of an organization account, you must first register for a personal account. You can then register your company or institution in a second step, after you have logged in personally.

Personal account

Personal registration
  1. Enter your e-mail address and password. Ensure that your password meets the password rules (at least eight characters long, with upper case and lower-case letters, at least one number, and a special character (excluding <>&”’[]).
  2. Confirm the privacy policy and terms of use of the Data Intelligence Hub.
  3. Then click on “Register for free”.
  4. An e-mail with the subject “Data Intelligence Hub: confirm registration” will be sent to the specified e-mail address.
  5. Confirm your registration by clicking on the link in this e-mail. Please note that the confirmation link is only valid for 60 minutes due to security reasons. After this time, you can register again at any time.
  6. The confirmation link takes you to the Data Intelligence Hub, where you can now explore the Marketplace.

Managing your Personal profile

To change personal details, add a profile picture, or change the language version, open your personal profile, which can be accessed from the account selection menu on the top right of every page.

This will take you – after switching to your personal account, if logged into the Organization account – to an overview page with the following sections:

  • General information
  • Affiliation
  • Account

Click on the edit icon (pen) at the top right of every profile to open an overlay with an input mask and the option to “Save”.

You can return to the overview of your personal account at any time by clicking the “X” (overlay closes).

Section: General information

In the overlay you can update and add personal details, such as name, address, and phone number.

Upload or replace profile picture

A profile picture can be helpful for joint work on a project – or if you are the contact person for your organization.

Add a (new) profile picture using the upload function – either by drag-and-drop or by searching for the desired file in your storage and then “Save”.

Section: Affiliation

Edit organization reference

This section lists the organizations you are assigned to on the Data Intelligence Hub. A person must be assigned to an organization’s team to be able to work collaboratively on projects in the organization’s workspace (see Workspaces).

If you belong to a registered organization but are not yet assigned to them on the Data Intelligence Hub, ask the administrator to invite you to join the organization’s team.

If you belong to an organization which is not yet registered on the Data Intelligence Hub, you can initiate the registration here – this applies for as many organizations as you would like to work with on the Data Intelligence Hub in future: Click on “Register organization” to open an overlay for registering an (additional) organization.

Section: Account

Security: Change password

Click on “Change password” to trigger the sending of an e-mail to the e-mail address which you have entered. Click on the confirmation link contained in the e-mail. This will lead you to a page where you can change your profile or enter a new password.

Ignore the e-mail if you would not like to change anything. If the confirmation link has expired (after 60 minutes), simply relaunch the process by clicking on “Change password” again.

Changing the language

If you want to use the Data Intelligence Hub in a language other than the one set by the geo-coding, select “Change language” from the drop-down menu.

Delete Personal account

The overlay which opens when you click on “Delete” contains a warning. You are required to enter your password in order to actually delete your account along with all uploaded and generated data. If you change your mind: please click on “Cancel”.

Organization account

Registering an organization

It is possible to register an organization in various parts of the Data Intelligence Hub, within the personal profile (“Affiliation” section) or by opening up the account selection menu and clicking on the drop-down arrow on the top right. You can click on “+ Organization” here to open an overlay.

  • You may first be prompted to fill out some details for your personal profile.
  • Complete the “Register organization” form and send your request to us.
  • You will receive an e-mail from our customer service team regarding the next steps.
  • If this does not happen: It may take a few days for your organization account to be confirmed. During this time, we will check the business details to ensure that only registered companies and public institutions are actually registered on the B2B platform.

Do you wish to purchase, process, or monetize data? Since, depending on the type of your organization, there are different usage and business models available with the Data Intelligence Hub, one of our customer advisers will call you and discuss all of the options with you.

Following the conversation with our customer service team

You will receive an e-mail from our customer service team confirming your organizational account. You can now:

  • Purchase data offers
  • Publish your own data offers in the Marketplace
  • And, if you have booked the corresponding options, use commercial analysis tools

Managing the organization

In the account selection menu at the top left of every page, you will see four links beneath the name of your organization:

  1. Profile
  2. Team
  3. Units
  4. Details

To change details and use the associated functions (depending on your user rights), switch to the relevant area.

You can switch between the areas not only in the account selection menu, but also using the tabs displayed below it.

Profile (of the organization)

Every data offer in the Marketplace of the Data Intelligence Hub is linked to a data provider’s profile. This contains a description of the company or institution. You can customize it with your logo and promote offers using case studies and sample data.

When creating the relevant data offer, you can specify whether your Provider profile should be visible publicly or only for specific user groups.
As a further option, you can present your data offers publicly in a branded environment, using a separate URL.

Note: Only users with administrator rights and who belong to the organization can create, extend, or change the Provider profile.

Creating an organization profile
Open the Profile option in the account selection menu or via the tab.
You will see an overview with the four segments:

  1. General information
  2. Communication
  3. Top offers
  4. Branding

… which are initially empty.

Later, you will see your current details here, and on the top right of each segment, an “edit” icon (pen). Click on this icon to change the details in a segment.

You can open a preview of your profile at any time to see what it looks like for other users.

Completing the organization profile
Click on the “Edit” icon (pen) to open an overlay with the input mask for the corresponding segment, e.g., “Communication”.
To configure the remaining segments for the Profile, click on the corresponding option in the sidebar:

  1. General information (description, images)
  2. Communication (contact, online)
  3. Top offers (data highlights)
  4. Branding (fonts, colors)

A status indicator tells you the extent to which the segments on your PROFILE are already complete.

When creating a profile, you can add information at any time and on any sub-page.

Below this, you will see a “Publish” button: as soon as the status of all segments is “yellow”, you can publish your entries at any time, on any sub-page, during profile creation.

Editing sidebar segments

    • Below the list of highlights, your organization’s remaining data offers are displayed (without checkmarks).
    • Using the offer filter, you can make a pre-selection. Set a checkmark in the box next to the offers that you want to mark as highlights – they then move to the “Highlights” section.

One way for organizations to use the Data Intelligence Hub is in a branded variant of the Marketplace. To present your offer using an individual look, the slider must be set to “Enable branded profile”.You will see the URL of your branded profile in the line below and can copy it if required.

Here (if you have the relevant admin rights) you can manage cost centers, departments, or other units that wish to or should process, offer, or order data within your organization on their own behalf.

Select the Units option using the tab or switch to this option in the account selection menu. You will see an overview with the units assigned to the organization.

Roles and rights

Personal account

Regardless whether you are a member of an organization’s team or use the Data Intelligence Hub exclusively as an individual user – once you are logged in, you can use the following functions:

  • Acquire open data offers in the Marketplace
  • Create up to three projects in the Workspace
  • Allocate data you have acquired or uploaded to the projects created
  • Work on these projects in the Workspace, i.e., processing the data you have allocated to the project using the analysis tools supplied

Organizational account
User roles

In order to structure and manage the various activities that are available, the Data Intelligence Hub has the following user roles:

  • Coordinator
  • System Administrator
  • Commercial Manager
  • Data Expert

It is required to be a member of a team in an organization which is registered with the Data Intelligence Hub to take on one of these roles. (See “Expanding the team”)

Members of an organization who are not (yet) assigned to one of these roles will see a link to the organization in the account selection menu and can switch to the organizational account. There they will have read-only rights for most of the functions. This means that they can upload and download data via the Control Center and view their organization’s offers and orders, without being able to process them. The latter also applies for the organization itself – the profile, team, units, and details can be viewed but not edited.

This role is recommended for the organization’s guest users as well as managers who are not involved with the actual data processing and would simply like to gain an overview of the activities carried out on the Data Intelligence Hub.

User rights

The following rights and tasks are associated with the user roles indicated:

Responsible for structure, representation, and layout on the Data Intelligence Hub.

  • Creates, amends, and updates the organization profile
  • Administers the organization’s team: assigns user roles, invites users to the organization
  • Administers the organization’s units
  • Procures further tools and additional storage capacity as required
  • Updates the organization details as required

As a coordinator, you can assign user roles (see “Administering the team”, or go to the profile via the account selection menu and select the “Team” tab there).

System Administrator

Responsible for technical configuration on the Data Intelligence Hub.

  • Activates tools
  • Creates projects
  • Sets up the Connector

Commercial Manager

Responsible for procurement, work preparation, and sales on the Data Intelligence Hub.

  • Creates, administers, and publishes data offers
  • Responsible for pricing, visibility, and licensing
  • Designates contact persons for the individual offers
  • Responsible for acquiring data from other providers
  • Allocates the data acquired to the corresponding workspaces and projects

Data Expert

Responsible for data processing.

  • Creates and manages data
  • Analyzes, explores, visualizes, and checks data with the help of tools within Workspace projects

Role assignment

Directly after registering your organization, as the sole member you are initially also the Coordinator.

Once further colleagues or business partners have accepted your invitation and registered, you can gradually transfer the rights and tasks associated with the three user roles to the new members of your organization by assigning them individual roles. There are relatively few limitations on the lay out of this structure: you can assign the roles as often as you like to distribute the tasks more precisely. A single person can also have multiple roles, if needed.
